Who Am I? An Introduction to Andrea Houghton Photography

I’m from a prominant photographic family and was born into a world of chemicals, darkrooms and printing machines. For those local to the West Midlands most of you will know of the Coventry city centre store Beryl Houghton Kameras which my parents first opened in 1952. Continueing to pioneer the world of particularly wedding photography they moved to Bull Yard in 1964 where most of you will remember the shop to lie.

I joined the family business on leaving school at sixteen in 1976 and shot my first wedding just one year later. Since then, I have never looked back and went on to become a qualified member of the Master Photographers Association and have been for over 30 years. The retial store sadly closed in January of 2015 but the photographic service lives on through my studio based in Allesley Village.

The days of chemistry and dark rooms have long gone, replaced by computers and digital processing, but it’s all still in my blood; creating images is what I do. From family sessions, babies, bumps, children, schools, glamour to fairies and wizards sets I’ve got it covered. This is not a hobby, it’s my life.

Professional photography is about finding out what you, the customer, really want, creating it for you and presenting you with a finished product or album to treasure.

I’m based in Coventry however I’m located just off the A45 and makes for a quick easy drive from Birmingham, Leamington, Rugby and other surrounding areas.
